Well, this is quite a moment - Connor just stood up and walked all by himself today.

They sure are growing up fast.

Well, I haven't had a lot of time to update lately. Maryn and Connor are growing up right before our eyes. Maryn really has a good little singing voice and can carry a tune almost perfectly, even after only hearing a song a few times. It's amazing to watch her discover new things and put together phrases and concepts she hasn't heard before. Connor is just starting to really talk a lot. All we have to do now is teach him English. He's a cute kid and smiles incessantly. We really have wonderful kids. Enjoy the new pics.

Hey all! Things are just peachy around here. Christie and I are are adapting to a two child household and enjoying watching our kids grow up. Maryn and Connor are so dang cute and fun it's barely tolerable. Hope you enjoy the new pics =) .

Yes indeedy. It is a boy. Connor William Smith was born today at 5:01 pm, weighing in at a manly 7 lbs and 10 ounces. Delivery was smooth and problem free. Chrisite is so good, she almost makes it look easy. She went in to the birthing center about 2 pm. She was in hard labor for only about 15 mins (compared to over an hour with Maryn). So, not too shabby. We are very happy with our new addition. Maryn took one look at him, said "baaybee," and tried to poke his eyes. I think she thinks its just another dolly for her to play with. Boy will she be surprised when this dolly starts pulling her toys away from her =).

Undoubtedly you are here to see the newest little Smith. Well, waste no more time and click right here to open

It's amazing how much a little person can change in so short a time. Maryn is now attempting to crawl and is getting close to sitting up. We are having lots of fun.

Well, we have successfully raised a small human to the age of 3 months. Quite an accomplishment considering our previous history with living things (sea monkeys - 3 weeks; miniature ficus tree - 5 weeks; tomagotchi - couldn't get it to come out of its egg.)

Maryn is sooo dang cute and so much fun. She is just beginning to smile for Christie and frown for me. Christie assures me it's because my voice is so much deeper than hers. I try to be consoled by this. It's amazing how entertaining she is. I'll stop studying just to go and pick her up... and try again to get her to smile. We love her very much and feel lucky to have her in our lives.

Notes to new or future parents:

Make sure every article of clothing worth washing is some shade of yellow, optimally a sort of yellow brown. This is especially important for clothing which comes in contact with the diaper at any time. In her short time in our house, Maryn has managed to poop, pee, or barf on EVERY one of her outfits, as well as most of our stuff.

A few well practiced wrestling moves can dramatically expedite the dressing of an infant. The "half nelson" is perfect for immobilizing flailing arms in order to pull a shirt over the child's head.

Enjoy the new photos.

November 1st, 1997

At precisely 11:30-ish on October 30th, 1997, Maryn Elena Smith drew her first breath of air. She was born at 6 lbs 3 oz, 20 whole inches long and scored a 10+ on the cuteness index. Mom did awesome with NO epideral or anything! They did give her a shot of something to "take the edge off." I got the impression the edge somehow remained quite intact. I fully understand the term "labor" now. I also realized the multifunctionality of the little hat they give babies immediately after they squeeze out into the world- serving the obvious effect of heat retention, and to protect the new parents from the sight of HEADZILLA. Pretty smart those doctors. I'm sure it cuts down on the number of extra babies left in the delivery room. (Sorry, that was kinda mean. If you've never seen a baby RIGHT after birth, you may not be familiar with HEADZILLA.)

The baby is doing great, as is Christie. This page will be bare bones for a bit. Neither one of us have slept much yet.

So, you know what this mean...

one more sappy baby page in the world.
