Our relationship
After the mission
We decided that we would continue our relationship and I would go up to visit her for her 21st birthday, which was just a couple weeks away. I traveled the 1600 mile round trip journey to see her. Every month for the next few months I drove up to visit her and she even came down to Salt Lake to visit as well. Often the topic about getting married came up, and we both knew that we were meant for each other.
The second weekend of April 2002 I surprised Tama by coming up to visit her unexpectedly. I was up to visit her, but this time I had a ring, and I had everything planned out perfectly. On April 21st We were in Downtown Seattle and decided to go to a Chinese food restaurant for some dinner. This was all according to plan because I was ready to pop the question. I had planned the perfect way to propose. During the meal, I snuck out to have a word with the waiter. I had packed some special fortune cookies containing custom fortunes. Once the meal was over, we opened our cookies and Tama's said "You will be asked a very important question, say yes and you will be happy for the rest of your life." Once she read that, I got down on one knee and with a restaurant full of people, asked her to be mine. She said YES!
